Yesterday's w5d1

I drove down to Maehama beach after school today. School was awesome today, by the way. It was my last day with my 3rd and 4th grades, and they were all broken up about it when I told them, no not just for the semester, forever. But that's okay, the classes themselves went well. And during afternoon break most of them came into my room and played with me. I got some pictures, it was pretty cool.

Then I drove down to the Beach side of the island, parked at the port and started my 5th week of couch to 5k. This is not necessarily true, mind. I haven't taken a weekend off since week 2, so I've been running off and on every other day. It cuts out a day every other week. Anyway.

I started on the 5 minute warm up walking towards the bridge from the port. The first interval going fine, like I could have continued for a few more minutes fine. Not pushing myself. Woo. And when the second interval hit, of course it hit on the uphill of the bridge, but whatever, I was only dying by the time it ended. The third interval was also on the next uphill, but I turned around at the end of the bridge about a minute to the end of the 5 minute run. Then I had to walk alllllll the way back to my car. I'd planned this to take about 25 minutes, it took about 27, so good. The total is about 5.5k.

On the way back, one of the fishermen pointed over the bridge and said look. It was a sea turtle. Yay! That was my second one on the bridge. I always keep my eye out, but things don't often show themselves. I also was welcomed back by a fisherman I pasted towards the beginning of the bridge. That was pretty neat.

After my run, I went to the beach for some tanning and reading. I ran into the tail end of volleyballers, including Janine and Teresa, but they left soon. I went for a small swim on the deserted beach, small because it was deserted, and then laid down on my towel and read for a bit. All in all, a nice day. Although I think I burned my back a little bit. There's something to be said for being so hot that you just can't get that layer of sweat off of you long enough to lotion up.

While I was lying there reading, I saw a small blue crab skitter amongst the surf. I also could Hear the tide coming it. It was pretty neat.
